Sky WakaStarting in June 2018, Resolve Group was engaged to support Ruapehu Alpine Lifts with the procurement and delivery of a new $25M 1.8km gondola facility at the Whakapapa Ski Area. There were a number of challenges associated with this project, notably, working on an active volcano with mixed geology and highly variable weather conditions, utilising a temporary ropeway and helicopters to transport material to remote tower locations, working within a UNESCO dual World Heritage Area and managing an Italian contractor with limited experience of the New Zealand contract environment. The project was successfully constructed over a period of eight months, with Resolve Group acting as Engineer to the Contract and Client Project Manager. The project was successfully delivered on time for public use on July 2nd.

Resolve Group is assisting Opotiki District Council with the tendering process for the design and build of a useable harbour entrance in Opotiki Township and a commercially viable level of access to marine vessels to enable the growing aquaculture industry to reach its full potential and process product in Opotiki.

Two tenderers from the first round have been selected to produce a concept design and pricing to include the following project scope:

  • Upgrading of the entrance into the harbour so that a minimum channel depth of about 3.7 meters (at mid tide) is maintained;
  • Construction of a new river entrance 400 meters east of the existing entrance;
  • Construction of two 500 meter-long training walls, 120 meters apart providing a channel width of at least 60 meters, navigable in wave heights of up to 2 meters;
  • Closing of the existing river entrance channel.

This stage of the tendering process will be completed by 17 March, 2017.
