The Challenge:
A new bridge was required to replace the old Māngere Bridge. Reflecting Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency’s commitment to creating a safer and more accessible transport network, a bridge for use by people travelling on foot or by bike was proposed.
The Outcome:
Consented in 2016, the Old Māngere Bridge was demolished and replaced with a new walking and cycling bridge. The new $38m active modes bridge crosses the Manukau Harbour between Onehunga and Māngere Bridge and has become a destination in itself, while also restoring important community connections.
Our Involvement:
Resolve Group took on the Engineer to the Contract role and provided contract management.
