Whetu is a third year Civil Engineering student at the University of Auckland currently working as an Engineering Intern at Resolve Group as part of his path toward a career in infrastructure management.
Raised in a rural environment with strong Māori roots, Whetu brings a unique perspective to project work – one shaped by community, kaitiakitanga, and an understanding of how decisions affect land, people, and place. This background informs how he approaches stakeholders and relationships that lead to successful outcomes.
Since joining Resolve Group, Whetu has contributed to project work and been recognised for his enterprising approach. Whetu is the 2026 recipient of Apopo’s Emerging Professional Poster competition. His work titled Mau Tonu Ngā Whetū: The Stars Are Still There has been included in the “Fundamental Principles” section of the Āpōpō Guide.
