The annual Roading Excellence Awards are open to all organisations involved in the delivery of roading projects in New Zealand. They seek to promote leadership, excellence and best practice within the industry, along with collaboration and the transfer of innovation.The 2012 Award winners were announced on August 27th.

Supreme Roading Excellence Award:

• Auckland Motorway Alliance (NZTA, Fulton Hogan, Opus, Beca, Resolve, Armitage)

• The Victoria Park Alliance (Fletcher Construction, NZTA, Beca, Higgins and Parsons Brinckerhoff)

Z Energy Excellence Award for a Major Road Project:

• The Victoria Park Alliance

Best Practice Award for People in association with InfraTrain New Zealand:

‘Building Futures, The Downer Way’, by Downer New Zealand

Winstone Aggregates Excellence Award for a Minor Road Project:

• Kopane Bridge Replacement, a project between Higgins Contractors and Horizons Regional Council

The Maccaferri Excellence Award for a Medium Road Project:

• Auckland City Centre Shared Space Streetscape, a combined approach by JFC, Auckland Council, Auckland Transport, Boffa Miskell and Architectus

Highly Commended:

• Kitchener Street South Upgrade by Auckland Road Maintenance Alliance (Dominion Contractors, AJ Russell and Blacktop Construction), Auckland Council, Auckland Transport, and Architectus
• The Auckland Harbour Bridge Box Girder Strengthening by Total Bridge Services, NZTA and Beca
